How Perspectives Shape Everything
To change your thoughts, change what you consume. - Alex Hormozi
I have always been a bit of a know-it-all, and it took me a while to realize that I knew nothing.
The world is a strange place with a lot of people and a lot of thoughts and opinions.
Doing it wrong or doing it right is an interpretation.
All you need to know for the rest of your life is that you don't know anything.
If you think you don't have to learn, if you stop learning, you're being foolish.
What we know comes from the unknown.
Furthermore, everything is made up.
Something exists because we believe it does.
Everything will continue to exist until you stop believing in it and start believing in something else.
That same thing no longer exists but is transformed into something new that you believe in now.
Everything is what you make of it, and what you make, you must first create in your mind.

3 forms of the reality
You can categorize the world into three forms of reality.
If you are conscious of those three forms, you can constantly check in with yourself on how you want to navigate the reality you're living in at that given moment.
It gives you more control over when you can and cannot create a better reality for yourself.
Subjectivity: includes what we experience.
An inner world of emotions and opinions that is different for each individual. We never know exactly what somebody else's experiences are.
Objective: refers to facts that are unchanging, things we can measure, like gravity.
We have no influence on gravity itself; it simply exists. Yet, we can adapt to gravity by flying in an airplane.
But the force of gravity remains constant and unaffected.
Intersubjectivity: It is the combination of what is objective and what we experience.
For example, time.
Objectively speaking, time can be measured and follows seconds, minutes, and hours.
It is a continuous and unchanging flow that we measure using clocks and calendars.
From an intersubjective perspective, time can feel different for individuals.
Waiting for something unenjoyable can seem endless, while pleasant moments fly by.
“There are no facts, only interpretations.” - Friedrich Nietzsche
The three forms of reality are perspectives that can help you in certain situations.
it can help you understand what's going on and differentiate between personal experiences, opinions, and facts a little bit more effectively.
perspectives
Everything is always from a point of view, someone's perspective, and someone's perspective is always a bit different than yours.
You never know what it is like to be in that person's shoes else you would be wearing them.
You have your own perspective that is created by the way you live and have lived your life, so is that of someone else.
Everything you consume has influenced your perspective, everything you:
See
Hear
Read
Experience
You can never judge a book by its cover because you don't know what it contains.
How often do you search for other perspectives or new ones defines how you see the world.
The more perspectives you have gained, the wider yours will be.

Growing up in the Netherlands, a rich Western country, I had a Western view of the world, quite individualistic.
By reading one book about Eastern philosophy (The Path), that all changed, and I immediately saw that the world was bigger, and that things had a different perspective than I was used to.
Getting to know more worldwide philosophies helped me see a bigger picture.
Old philosophers laid the groundwork for many principles that people still live by.
It is the essence of a lot of culture.
Traveling also helps to widen your perspectives.
You’re always making the best choice based on your current understanding. Don’t try to change the choice - change the understanding. - Naval
Believing and Understanding
The point of view you need to believe in is your own because that is the one you live in.
If you don't even believe in the world you live in, how can you ever lay a foundation in that way?
That is one of the reasons it is important to have principles; your foundation is your principles.
You create your principles by understanding as many world views as possible.
Also, a reason why it is important not to judge.
When you judge, your opinions are in the way of understanding.
You don't have to agree; you need to understand.
In every point of view, there is something to gain and learn.
By consistently trying to understand everything and everyone, you will grow into a valuable person.
Make notes
Ask questions
Gain experience
Since I have my clear principles, I try to listen and understand more and try to look at things from many angles.
“The journey is the destination. The process you’re in is the goal. Success is never defined by the outcome but by the process.” - Paul Young
Check yourself
What you know now is that nothing is true unless you believe it is.
Your experiences can be categorized into three types of reality: subjective, objective, and intersubjective.
Your perspectives are shaped by the way you live and by what you consume, which includes everything you see, hear, read, and experience.
Judging has an influence on your ability to understand something or somebody well.
It is beneficial to find ways to broaden your perspective, such as traveling or reading.
Create your own priceless value by the knowledge and perspectives you have gained.
Take a moment to examine your own beliefs and where they come from.
Do they align with the life you want to live?
How did you get these beliefs and principles?
Are you content with them?
Is this the person you want to be?
