Own Your Path: Earn What You Deserve
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." - Oscar Wilde
Life is life, and that is just the way it is.
You are the only one who can live your life.
It sounds basic, but there are a lot of people who live for others, based on imprinted values.
Insecurities of doing it wrong.
Always wanting to please people.
I know this because I was one of those people, wanting to do it right.
Wanting to please the other, setting myself aside.
All based on insecurities. In my close relationships, I am still struggling with this.
When someone is close to me, I find it more difficult to choose for myself and be in less of a pleasing role.
There are a couple of things that I found out that are helping me now to find a better balance in this.
Helping me to say no.
Helping me to increase my performances slowly but steadily.
Being a part of the consistent growth that life can bring.
What we are going to talk about in this article is:
Your path
Get what you earn
Make yourself valuable
These are principles that I am implementing right now, and they are helping me.
"Life is what happens when you're busy making other plans." - John Lennon
Your Path
Life is not fair, and no one is born equal; some people come from wealthier families, some from more loving households.
Some encounter the right opportunities at the right time, while others do not.
Regardless of your thoughts or feelings about this, it is simply how life is.
You cannot be sidetracked from your own path.
Everyone has their unique journey and events unfold as they should.
Accept these happenings as they form your path.
Comparing yourself to others is futile.
If you compare yourself to others, you are attempting to walk their path, and in doing so, you risk losing sight of your own.
The grass may always seem greener on the other side, but is it really?
Focus on your path, your journey.
"Comparison is the thief of joy." - Theodore Roosevelt
This philosophy has helped me accept life as it is and embrace my unique path without comparing it to others.
You are unique, so be yourself.
You are not yourself when you walk and talk in the way of others.
"Everyone has their own Everest to climb." - Edmund Hillary
Get what you earn
It's good if you can embrace who you are while embracing your path.
Now, what do you need on your journey?
The answer to that is, nothing.
You never need anything; needing is for greedy people.
In life, you will get what you deserve.
If you do certain labor, you deserve to earn from that labor.
The better you do your labor, the more you will earn.
You can ask for more because people know the quality you deliver.
Or your price can stay the same, but because you deliver good work, people will start recommending you.
If you are recommended, you earn more, but why?
Well, because you deserve it.
"The value of a man resides in what he gives and not in what he is able to receive." - Albert Einstein
It sounds simple, and that's because it is simple.
The only thing is that it will cost you more work.
It will cost you a bit of extra effort, it will cost you extra time that you could spend on drinking beers.
But it will make you more valuable.
It will make you earn more because you deserve more.
If you think "I need 10,000 euros," there is a big chance you will not get it.
But if you start saying "how do I earn 10,000 euros and deserve to have that," I personally start to think more in terms of ideas on how to.
"There is no substitute for hard work." - Thomas Edison
Make Yourself Valuable
You are on your own path, you get what you deserve and therefore get what you earn.
This can be achieved by becoming more valuable.
The more valuable you become in what you do or in certain skills, the further you will progress on your own journey.
The more valuable you become, the more you will deserve and therefore earn.
Earning can be in the form of money, love, attention, or trust.
Becoming competent by practicing skills is what makes you more valuable.
The richest people bring the most value to many.
"Develop a passion for learning. If you do, you will never cease to grow." - Anthony J. D'Angelo
Doing all this in your own authentic way and enjoying the process makes life worthwhile for yourself and others.
You are the most valuable because of your combination of skills and because you can bring your own authenticity.
In sales, I found it difficult to be myself a lot of times, I sometimes played a bit of a character, not being at ease.
That is a kind of attitude that does not serve me.
When I was more myself, calm and concise in what I said, my results increased over 100% literally, from 3 sales on one shift to 7 sales on the other.
I become more valuable to the company when I make more sales and I earn more.
Also, I practice the skill of sales to become more valuable as a person.
"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." - Mahatma Gandhi
You Do You
To sum up all we've talked about, you live your own life.
Your life is authentic in your own unique way, shaped by your experiences.
In your life, you walk your own path with all its ups and downs. That's why you should never compare, because it's your journey.
Within your journey, you get what you deserve.
What you deserve depends on how much time and effort you put into something, and it also depends on how skilled or competent you are.
The outcome of what you deserve is what you earn.
That could be money, love, attention, trust, or respect.
No matter what or how much you earn, it's within your pathway of life to determine how valuable you're going to be.
The more value you create for yourself, the better you can serve yourself and the world.
