“Master Your Mind, Reshape Your Reality”

I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become. - Carl Gustav Jung

Aren't you constantly happy with where you are now?

Don't you think there is more to life than what you have right now?

Do you know deep down that you can do better in some way?

You are consistently losing from your mind, that's why you think that way.

You say things you don't do, you do things which you said you wouldn't do.

"No, I won't drink tonight," and yet, you have a cold brew in your hand.

You complain a lot.

And maybe you feel like a victim of what is happening to you.

Well, if you are completely like that, I am going to challenge you to read this full article.

Even if you have some or none of the things above, I still want you to read this full article, there is always something to learn.

Let's begin with the statement, "it is all mindset."

You have the world of the internal and external.

The way you handle your inner world determines how you live in the external world.

Your internal world is steered by your thoughts and beliefs.

Do you want to know how you can have more control over your inner world and therefore immediately create a better external world?

I struggled big time myself to get my mind straight and this is what is helping me now.

Read along.

We are going to talk about:

  • Beliefs

  • Self-fulfilling prophecy

  • Winner or Victim approach

Beliefs

On average, each one of us has 70,000 thoughts per day.

These thoughts come from all the input you ever get during your life.

Think of:

  • Conversations you have

  • Music you listen to

  • Tik-Tok or YouTube videos you watch

These thoughts come from your inputs, those inputs create your belief system.

Your belief system determines how you live.

We are what we believe we are. - C.S. Lewis

You form patterns in your head based on your beliefs, and those patterns are already set out for you through your inputs and the inputs you resonate with.

If you have a certain belief, you're only going to search for things that confirm that belief in any way possible.

When you're not conscious of this process, your thoughts and inputs control your life and beliefs.

Beliefs can be divided into two types:

  • Limiting beliefs

  • Empowering beliefs

Limiting beliefs are the beliefs that are holding you back:

  • It is too difficult

  • I am a messy person

  • I am disorganized

  • I get easily distracted

  • I find it difficult to stay consistent

They're not necessarily true, but you think they are.

Empowering beliefs are the ones that help you grow and work towards a better future:

  • I can do it

  • I am always happy

  • Life is wonderful

  • I love people

  • I am focused

If you were to track your thoughts for a week and write down as many as possible of those 70,000 thoughts a day.

You could find at least 15 limiting beliefs and turn them into empowering affirmations:

  • I am ugly - I am handsome

  • I am sloppy - I am exact and precise

  • I am insecure - I am valuable

Say these to yourself in the mirror 1 to 2 times every day until you believe them. In this way, you change your inputs and over a period of time, your thoughts.

I always thought of myself as really chaotic, so I started saying in my affirmations that I am planned and structured.

Of course, now I plan and structure my day.

After saying it, you still need to do it, but saying it to yourself is a good first step.

A Self-Fulfilling Prophecy

It all starts with what we think about ourselves.

Whether we think lowly or highly of ourselves.

Whether we believe we can or can't do something.

You are what you believe.

What we think determines our actions.

Input = Output.

Output is everything we say and do.

Output is the way we do something.

Taking action.

People see the impact you have with your actions.

People will form opinions about you based on your actions.

They see you work hard, so you are a hard worker in their eyes.

You let others believe you are a hard worker.

If others believe, they reinforce that image onto you, for example, by saying it to you or showing you more respect through their actions.

Their actions towards you and what you hear equals your inputs.

Inputs determine your thoughts.

Your thoughts determine your actions.

Your actions determine what people think about you.

What they think determines how they act and what they say to you or towards you.

That equals inputs.

That is exactly how the self-fulfilling prophecy works.

By believing in systems that are put upon you.

“There is an old saying: ‘Give a dog a bad name and you may as well hang him.’ But give him a good name – and see what happens!” - Dale Carnegie

Break the patterns by obtaining and creating different inputs.

The self-fulfilling prophecy can be positive or negative.

Work and strive for positivity, that starts by affirming certain things to yourself first.

"Daily affirmation"

To refer back to my personal experience,

My girlfriend tells me that I am structured, and that naturally has positive effects on my actions of being a structured person and planning things.

She says that to me because she sees me planning my days.

But it all started by telling myself that I am structured and planned.

If you think you're right, you're right. If you think you're wrong, you're right.

"There is no greater power than the power to choose." - Oprah Winfrey

Winner or Victim Approach

Are you a winner or a victim?

How do you deal with your responsibilities?

How do you deal with situations that are not going as planned?

How do you deal with setbacks?

The way you deal with something determines if you put yourself in a victim or winner's approach.

Winners are growers.

Winners ask questions:

  • How can I grow more?

  • How can I do better?

  • What can I improve?

Victims are the people who look for an excuse or reason for everything.

  • There's a reason for a bad day.

  • There's a reason for a bad score.

  • There's a reason for...

Winners make things happen.

Victims are what happens to them.

Winners live.

Victims are being lived.

Winners focus on themselves.

Victims compare.

The way you take ownership is what determines your outcomes.

You are responsible for your outcomes.

If something happens, ask yourself:

  • What did I do?

  • What were internal factors that I could change or do something about?

  • What are external factors that you can and cannot change or do something about?

Look for ways to improve and reflect on situations.

Consider how you can better handle external factors, even when they are not within your control.

For example:

I cannot concentrate = a victim's thought.

How can I gain more concentration? = a winner's thought.

  • Change your environment

  • Meditate

  • Take a walk around the block

  • Listen to techno or classical music to get into a flow

Turn your thoughts into questions to seek improvement.

Use these tricks to gain more consciousness and start winning over your mind.

You have the power to create the life you want.

Use that power.

"The mind is not a vessel to be filled but a fire to be kindled." - Plutarch

The next step

Write down your thoughts to gain more clarity over them.

Everything that you're not conscious of is running your life.

These are patterns based on your beliefs structured in self-fulfilling prophecies.

These prophecies can become habits over time, and then it becomes harder to become conscious of them.

So, write things down!

Analyze your thoughts and filter the negative ones.

Make them empowering and create affirmations.

If you have your empowering thoughts, your affirmation, say them two times a day to yourself (however weird it may feel in the beginning, don't worry, you're not the only one).

Create a new self-fulfilling prophecy for yourself.

Input = output.

You now have more control over your inputs through your daily affirmations.

Now, you also know the difference between a victim's and a winner's thought.

Make yourself a winner by consistently improving and asking yourself questions.
