The 3-Stage Process to Gain Clarity Get a Clear Vision for Your Life
"People who lack the clarity, courage, or determination to follow their own dreams will often find ways to discourage yours. Live your truth and don't ever stop!" - Steve Maraboli
I was stuck in my head, overwhelmed by what to do and when to do it.
There were so many plans: starting a side hustle, getting more engaged in sales, continuing to post my articles, writing two theater plays, and wanting to get my driver's license.
All this, in combination with a YouTube video every week, and at the same time, working towards the future that I want to create for myself.
Thoughts kept flying around, driving me crazy.
Others said that I was asking too much of myself, that I needed to rest more.
Well, I can't if there is still so much to do.
I needed to take a walk, no phone or music, just me and my thoughts. Then it struck me, I needed more clarity.
I needed an overview, clarity.
What is clarity and what are you without it?
Clarity is:
The ability to think clearly and not be confused.
The quality of being easy to see or hear.
The quality of being clear and easy to understand.
So, what are you without it?
What I personally experienced is:
I was often stuck in my head, I had less energy, I felt purposeless, I was messy, less disciplined, and honestly, I worried way quicker about small things.
Gaining clarity is a blessing in the sky!
Luckily, people are creators.
We have created the life we live and take responsibility for everything that is good or bad, as we are the creators.
As creators, we can also foster clarity.
What fosters clarity for me includes:
My 10-year vision
My life's mission
The character I aspire to be (Affirmations)
My principles
My priorities
My values
We are not going to discuss all of these, but we will delve deeper into the vision aspect.
I discovered that you can categorize your vision into three states:
The long-term state
The mid-term state
The short-term grind
Determine these, and you will gain much more clarity in your mind and in your structures.
The Long-term State
Your long-term vision is for about 8 to 10 years. Where do you see yourself then?
It is based on the life you want to live, the life you want to create for yourself.
Think of 4 important key points:
Your relationships - The bonds you have with people
Your vitality - Your physical and mental health
Your professional life - The impact you're making
Your financial situation - Your financial wealth
If you are unhealthy, have poor relationships, but possess a great career and a lot of money, chances are you are not fulfilled.
If you have no career, no money, work a lot in a dead-end job, have no free time, are not in good shape, and only have good relationships, you probably wouldn't be satisfied either.
You can make endless combinations of what wouldn't be the perfect situation.
What we are striving for is the best in all four categories.
Write out what you want without holding back, and examine why you want it.
Ask yourself why you want each thing at least 7 to 10 times.
Like this for example:
I want a Rolex Datejust.
Why: It's like a crown jewel for my hard work.
Why: It's a brand with a history that tells a story of time and effort.
Why: It's something that makes me feel special.
Why: Because others cannot have it.
Why: It's a type of validation that I am good at being myself.
Why: It helps me to support what I am doing as a token.
Why: It gives me support.
Why: I always looked at these types of watches as something I could never have as a kid.
Why: It seemed unreal to get one of those in my own possession.
Why: Because they are a luxury item.
Conclusion: I want a Rolex Datejust to confirm to myself that what I am doing right now is good and to use it as a token of inspiration to work even harder.
It lets me see that more is possible because I achieved it.
Filter out the things that are not important or that you found out you only want because others programmed you to want it.
Now you have a clearly written out reason why you want certain things in a new perspective with your intentions behind it.
Write down your vision again, only now filtered to the core again based on the 4 key points.
Make a vision board based on your last written out vision.

My Vision board
Now you have a clearly written out and visual vision board for your long term vision based on intentions why you want it, which gives it way more meaning.
Print it out with the visual side on the front and the written out side on the back.
That is the reason why you're doing what you're doing in the first place.
Insight enables you to know your own heart. Clarity enables you to accept without illusion. -Deepak Chopra
The Mid-Term State
This state is to clearly identify where you are, what you've learned, and what you still need.
This state is for the next 4 to 5 years to work towards making your long-term goal a reality.
In this state, you are at a place where you have experience, some capital in the bank, a larger network, maybe invested in some coaches or experts, and tasted more of life.
You mainly focused on your learnings, skill sets, and knowledge.
You have a season of learning and a season of earning.
Most people want to go too quickly to the season of earning, which will not help you in the long term.
First, work to learn, then work to earn.
To create a good mid-term state, you need to ask yourself these types of questions:
Where do I need to be to make my long-term vision a reality?
Who do I need to be to make my long-term vision a reality?
What do I need to create to make my long-term vision a reality?
What do I need to learn to make my long-term vision a reality?
Where can I learn the skill sets or in what do I need to invest to make my long-term vision a reality?
Again, there is a time to learn and a time to earn.
Work with a compounding interest to win for the long term.
SMALL, SMART CHOICES + CONSISTENCY + TIME = RADICAL DIFFERENCE
That's why the first 4 to 5 years you need to work towards your mid-term state of your vision before directly focusing on the big fish, the 10-year goal.
Give yourself time while still being in a hurry.
Always keep the attitude of a poor, hungry, and driven person.
When you are in your mid-term state, you can shift from doing and learning to creating, to building more specifically towards your 10-year vision.
It's always good to remember that money is a result, not a goal or purpose.
“Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.” ― Bill Gates
Short-Term Grind
From the point where you are now to the point where you need to be, with the mid-term state as a close goal.
I am still in my short-term grind.
Your goal is to learn and gain experience.
Based on your mid-term, you can determine what you need to focus on.
You don’t go for the big bucks, but for the place where you can learn the most.

Your short-term grind is the foundation of everything that is to come.
You make the most sacrifices here.
The mindset I recommend you to adopt is to strive now and regret later!
The most painful regrets come from the things we didn’t do.
In the short-term grind, you will experience pain and suffering.
It is simple but therefore not easy, no matter what, just keep on going.
It is all part of the hustle.
The goal is to get to the mid-term phase.
The foundation you lay in your grind is about:
Your values
Your principles
Your priorities
You build your network by doing.
You build your network by getting better results over and over again through reflection.
First, you need to work hard to get to the point of working smart.
Focus on the things that you need as a foundation for your long-term vision.
It’s not the strongest of the species that survive, not the most intelligent, but the most responsive to change — Charles Darwin
What Now
Determine where you are in your process or take the risk, reflect on what you've already gained, and start the process from point zero with your current skills and experiences as a foundation.
I am in the short-term grind, laying the foundation for my 5-year mid-term. Now, 1 year has already passed, so there is still a lot to learn.
And man, I wish I had this article when I just started on my journey.
Writing this article and making my YouTube videos is my long-term foundation for where I want to be in my long-term vision as a part of my short-term grinding season.
For now, it's just providing value.
For now, it is working in all kinds of sales jobs to build my skill sets and knowledge, with a bigger network and more capital to invest as a result.
For now, it is gaining life experiences and making a lot of mistakes to keep on learning.

In 5 years, when I reflect on my mid-term, I will write a new article about where I am then!
Now, I am focusing on the short-term grind to reach the mid-term.
This is my perspective, which helps me gain more clarity.
I hope it brought you guidance and, in that way, value as well.
If you can wait 90 days for a result, you can win. If you can wait a year, you can win big. If you can wait a decade, you can be the best. If you can wait a lifetime, you can change the world . -Alex Hormozi
